Scrapapple May Project

Our May Kit from Scrapapple included papers from October Afternoon's Cherry Hill range, K&Company Rub-on Magic alphas and the cutest Birdhouse and Branch chipboard set from Scrapware.

I must admit, I'm not the biggest of fans with glitter and thought, my god, what have the Scrapapple girls done to me. But, and a big but later, these are the easiest of products to use. The rub-on alpha glided off with very little pressure and the glitter adhered quite easily to the sticky surface.

Not that you have to, but I sealed my glitter with a quick squirt of fixative and now have secure surface that won't leave glitter from here to your next birthday.

To compliment the glitter letters, I added a little glitter glue over the painted surfaces of the birdhouse roof and the leaves. I also added some bought glitter letter stickers to compliment the title.

100 Creativity Starters

This weeks challenge was to "use a small hole punch to create a border". I actually went backwards and found a layout that was published a while ago, with the same details (bad person aren't I, but sometimes you just need to dig a little to find something special).

I took a serious of photos of my DD a couple of years ago in our local park and she just looks stunning. I punched small holes around the photo block and inserted coloured brads in different areas to compliment. I also printed my journaling on strips and placed this around the outer edge.

What if.....

Pop over to the forum on the Scrapapple website for a great little challenge What if...

My DD has had a particularly hard week with the inevitable 'everyone hates me' time and this was a perfect opportunity to write about What ifs during this time of her life. What if she never went through adolescence, what if she never had self doubt, what if she never had a care in the world for a start. As a mother my heart breaks when she has such a terrible time with life but you know what; life changed and it's all back to normal again within a blink of an eye. She wouldn't say this but life is so short to worry about the little stuff.

May Scrappit Pack

This month I was sent two fantastic kits from Scrappit. The first was from The Girl's Paperie range and these were certainly some pretty papers.

To jazz up my background cardstock I sprayed it with two different shades of mist and quite liked the outcome. I used a several journaling blocks to record my life stages at 48.

This pack was from the new 7 Gypsies range and really lended itself to my grunged girly page. My DD has so many 'Deep' moments these days, goes with adolescence I suppose, and this picture captured her to a tee.

I love to make my crumpled flowers and this is such a simple method. Tear or cut a thin strip of paper, spray lightly with water, scrunch the paper strip and leave to dry. When dry, fold the strip back on itself creating petals. As you continue, increase the size of the flower by spreading the distance you are folding. As the paper was double sided, this added to the grunged look with the black background showing through.

Scrapapple April Project

I loved this project from Scrapapple this month. Especially because I got to play with the new Graphic 45 range of Baby 2 Bride papers.

The memo board was transformed to a Vintage Wall Hanging showcasing some special photos of my dear father dating back to 1926.

If you'd like to take a look at the techniques used on this layout like crumpled flowers, concertina strips and folded leaves, shoot on over to the Scrapapple Project page http://www.scrapapple.com.au/scrapapple.asp?id=131 and check our my instructions.
