We Dare You Challenge

This weeks challenge was all about Home. What better way to celebrate home and family than to share a layout dedicated to our Christmas morning traditions. I know one day this will change when the kids get partners of their own, but for now, this is what it's all about.

PS this is the last of our We Dare you Challenges but stay tuned we're thinking up some special weekly challenges to finish the year with a bang.

Scrappit Now Kit - September

September Scrappit Now Kits are out and this pack is just great. Papers and embellishments really compliment one and other and without too much thinking I was able to come up with three items from this kit.

I just love this photo of Christopher and Kate together and couldn't wait to put it on a layout. The background card stock had the usual inking techniques applied which provided a solid background for the other items. Fussy cutting the black swirl gave the layout a bit of a difference and to complete the die cut tags were arranged in a cluster.

This black mini tag album from Basic Grey gave my pages a great place to start. After going to Norfolk this year with the family I still hadn't organised any of the photos, and boy were there heaps. At least I can say this is the mini version of what we accomplished. The full album pages can be found on http://www.scrappit.com.au/www/25/1001127/displayproductcategory/scrappit-now-newsletter--2101344.html .

I love collecting bits and pieces from the $2 shops and this was no exception. This little money tin cost $2 and was perfect for dressing up. It had some ghastly image on the side but the top and bottom were already white. After attaching my paper it was only a matter of adhering some embellishments to complete. Not worth $2 now is it?

We Dare You Challenge

This weeks challenge was a layout about collections. Well anybody that really knows me, knows that I am a bit of an OCD when it comes to collections. Anything from every mag in a publication to completing sets of inks, markers etc. So this week I did a special layout about Kate and her many birthday parties at Monsoon's ( a little restaurant near home ). Just about every birthday we have had to go there and enjoy some very average food lol, just to make this girl happy.

Well it is her special day!!!!

Scrapapple 'Pink' Project

Here's a little sneak peak on a couple of 6x6 layouts I've created for Scrapapple. The gorgeous ladies are having a fundraiser for Breast Cancer - see below for more details and they are asking all their attendees to produce a special quote layout to be added to a couple of albums to be donated to the centres.

What a fabulous idea and I'm so happy to participate.

Family Stuff

An extra big whoo hoo to DD Kate and her friend Jiordyn for being selected for the Squad for MDNA 13yr Netball Rep Trials.

We are so tickled pink with their conquests considering they were in the grade 3 division competing against division 1 girls.

Still another selection process to be chosen for the teams but what a thrill to get this far.

Congrats girls

Penny

Supporting Scrapping In The Pink

Scrapapple are promoting their support for the McGrath Foundation by holding a wonderful Scrapping & Chatting day on October 4th.

I know you will all agree that this is more than a worth while charity but a necessity to the community. I've attached their flyer for more info. You can see more details on Scrapapple website too http://www.scrapapple.com.au/default.asp?c=193122

We Dare You Challenge

This definitely wasn't a hard challenge this week. 'Friends' and that is certainly not something Kate is short of. I just luv the way she embrassed a backup party after her Birthday party. She gathered the usual group for a Bowling party, followed by Sizzlers for lunch and just when you were feeling exhausted as any parent can be, we had her two besties come back home for another few hours of pool activities and food.

Am I just getting too old for this or what? Phew!

We Dare You Challenge

This weeks challenge was to show why we scrap. I would have to say it's obviously to record a bit of history but I really need this for my creative outlet. It's one of those hobbies that encapsulates so many features and other hobbies all in one. I would have to say it really is an all-round craft.

These photos are of David from 6mths to about 2 1/2 I think. Since I've started scrapping some 6 years ago now I have so many older 20yr+ photos to go through. This was one of my first layouts using photos that are now so old.

My week in Review

My god I don't think I wouldn't want to go through another week like this one. Both Pete and I were on a high coming back from a weeks holiday to Tassie. This was the first, of many I hope, holidays by ourselves and it was great. It did turn out to be the wettest August for 103 yrs in Tassie but it was still a fantastic experience.

Within a couple of hours of being at work Pete got notified that his job had been made redundant but they had found another role for him in another depot. He had only one day to finish his existing role before moving on. At least he was lucky enough to be offered this job.

By Wednesday Christopher had been told there definitely wouldn't be a job for him past Xmas. What a shock as he'd be there nearly 6 years. I suppose this will give him the push to start something new. Fingers crossed that he will find something that he will enjoy doing.

This comes as double a shock as we all work for the same Company but in different division. I know this is happening to so many people but you never seem to think it's going to happen to you. This was a big wake up call to having a backup plan in case this happens again.

Did I mention that we wish we were retired already so we don't have to think about this anymore. I know I'm dreaming again but there has got to be an end soon.......

Scrappit Pack - September

September's Scrappit Pack was delivered with some fabulous colourful papers from Kaisercraft Pina Colada Collection. This month I used some gorgeous photos of my Great Niece Emma to compliment the colour range.

She is such a sweet little girl it was easy to create a layout that would look very girly. I even got to use my new Sizzix diecuts...gotta luv the idea of that.

We Dare You Challenge

This weeks We Dare You Challenge was to complete a Tribute layout. What better reason than to celebrate our 25th Anniversay. I got to try out a few techniques including my new butterfly Nestabilities, distressing inking (again) and a bit of tearing. I tried to make this a very colorful layout by including purples, teals and reds.
