100 Creativity Starters

Another great challenge this week and we were asked to journal 'what made us laugh this week'. Well, what better than a quote from DS#2. He really does live in his own little world and when he asked Pete what looked different on a wall that we had removed some 14 school certificate frames and replaced with three photos, claimed that there were only one or two pictures there previously.

These frames had only been on this wall from 12 to 16 years now, but he was so oblivious to them obviously......umm!

March Scrappit Now Kit

This months Scrappit Now Kit was an interesting mix of Cosmo Cricket papers and Die Cuts with Clear Cut Frames from Little Yellow Bicycle, bling and rubons from Basic Grey and finally some very interesting Adhesive flowers from JudiKins.

Every kit starts with a layout and for this one I chose a photo of my DH & DS#1. They have so much in common that the 'Two Peas In A Pod' phrase was perfect as part of my title. The layout is quite simple in it's design with some added hand and machine stitching to highlight areas.

I am such a fan of every thing notepadish. These little note holders from Office Works were ideal for a quick and easy project as they already had a white glossy cover which shortened my workload by just adding pretty papers and some die cut stickers.

My second layout was a sketch page and again this design is quite simple. I used the balance of the Clear Cut Frames to create a grouped frame behind my photo.

To complete my pack I chose to make some bookmarks with the 'left overs'. If you look closely on the green bookmark you will see I used the adhesive flowers. By gently rubbing the flower on the paper the transfer was complete. This leaves a sticky surface to cover with glitter, embossing powder or chalk.
I used one of my Ranger Distress embossing powders in green and this gave it a nice tone on tone appearance.

Pocket Greeting Cards by Penny

I was so inspired by Shirley Fyfe's Pocket Greeting Card creation in the Scrappit Now Newsletter for January 2010, that I couldn't wait to give it a try. And, Shirley this is such a great idea, I made two. Your instructions were easy to follow and for anyone out there who is looking for a different take on a greeting card, this is certainly one to try.

I created the cards using two of the Scrappit Packs, one from July 2009 Love Blooms (still available) and the other from the August 2009 Maybe Baby kit (unfortunately no longer available). I would suggest using any of these co ordinated kits as there is such a great selection of papers and embellishments to create your own unique take on Shirley's design.

Easter Cards

Don't you just love this time of year. I'm not a very religious person but I just can't go past the blessings of chocolate during Easter. Unfortunately, or fortunately should I say, DH and I will be away for Easter and that takes me away from the huge temptation of chocolate-alholism.

Anyway, these cards were created for the Scrapapple site, so if you'd like to see how they were done skip on over to see the instructions. http://www.scrapapple.com.au/scrapapple.asp?id=134

100 Creativity Starters

This weeks challenge was a challenge in itself. We had to select a certain folder and photo from those stored on our computer. Unfortunately I had already scrapped mine so I chose one close to it. This photo is of my DH and DD sharing a sweet moment on a trip to the city's botanical gardens. I loved the way the sun highlighted their faces and showed their love to one and other.

Anyway, enough of the soppy stuff. I got to use my new Fancy Pants Vintage Valentine collection and added some striking black and white flowers for a dramatic affect. The flourishes were from Little Yellow Bicycle clear shapes I have had for some time now and yet, surprise surprise, hadn't got around to using.

100 Creativity Starters

This weeks challenge from Scrappit was to create multiple layers from rubons. Well, I don't know about you but I haven't used my rubons for what feels like centuries. I grabbed out some flower rubons from Daisy D and rubbed them on to acetate. By trimming around the edges you can overlap without the concern of the rubon removing from the background paper.

There are definitely a couple of things I liked about this layout. Yes I got to use up some old supplies like the rubons and chipboard word, but I also got to use Christmas themed paper and tape on an everyday layout and got to add three butterflies punched from my new Martha Steward punch.

Gotta love that......

Oh, and another layout to go into MY album.

March Scrappit Pack

This months Scrappit Pack included the delightful KaiserCraft paper range La Di Da. These are some really fun papers to work with and I always love to have the opportunity to cut up some of the papers to create my own ascents.

By keeping to a solid block pattern with overlapping strips the layout came together in record time. I haven't created too many layouts in the size but will have to think seriously about going it in the future.

100 Creativity Starters

This weeks challenge saw us using embroidery floss to hand stitch a shape. I'm in love with all things flourishy and what better way to showcase hand stitching than to follow the shape of a chipboard swirl. I've added extra white rubons and dotted the flourish with small flowers to give the design some oomph.

I was also lucky enough to use a total of 17 photos on this double layout.
