Scrapping Challenge

This months Scrapbooks ETC challenge was using Pink Paislee papers, a small flower stamp, chipboard corner and a large bird. We had to use at least 2 other patterned papers on this layout. Here's my take and hopefully I'll be a little more successful than I have been over the last few weeks. Fingers crossed.......

As you can see I'm still not over my distressed inks. I've even distressed the pocket and tag with a variety of inks too. Love the look and apart from the messy fingers afterward will be using this technique for some time to come.

We Dare You Challenge

This weeks challenge was to scrap the 'Little Things'. I'm so on the lookout now, since taking up photography, to capture the things we take for granted. Kate and I wondered over to a small park near Graceville and got up close and personal with some roots from this huge tree.

It does make you stop and think how something craggy and knotted can look so majestic when you take the time to look.

We Dare You Challenge

This weeks challenge was to create a layout about "Being a Woman". My philosophy with this is your wedding day. No other time do you feel more like a woman. Now on the other hand, no other time do you feel like a mother when your daughter cuts up your wedding dress for dress ups.

Scrapapple August Project

Love this kit from Scrapapple for August. I received some beautiful papers from Prima and although these were not my usual style they were so trending. One of the other briefs was to use as much ribbon as possible. Again, not my usual but this was quite effective.

If you look closely the green ribbon behind the silk flowers was cut into short lengths and folded over each other to form petals. Simple but effective. I also got to use one of my new Sizzix die cuts and although they had more detail on them it was easy to cut off anything I didn't need.

Anyone who has been watching Jennifer McGuire's Two Peas videos atm will recognise the distress inking on just about every inch of this layout. Gotta love that girl.

We Dare You Challenge

This weeks We Dare You Challenge and we had to explain what INSPIRES us. Although a new layout would have been good, the trip to Hervey Bay this weekend put too much pressure on to come up with something new.

This particular layout had been published with SM back in 2007. There is definitely something in this layout that keeps drawing me back. So what's the drawcard... great photo, simple journaling and a very basic but creative design. Total package I say.

We Dare You Challenge

OMG it's August already and believe it or not I've just been out shopping for Christmas pressies. With the cruise coming up and being away for this years Chrissie, I decided to do a bit of shopping early.

Anyway here's this weeks challenge and this has really been something that's been playing on my mind quite a lot lately. Pete and I only had a conversation yesterday regarding what our 'Retirement Attire' will look like. Summer: shorts, t-shirt and summer slippers, Winter: trackie dacks, jumper and winter slippers. Stylish I know but I just can't wait.......

Scrappit Pack - August

August already and some beautiful papers from Adornit Carolees Creations to set my mind in a spin. You know sometimes you just look at a piece of paper and BOOM you just know what you want to do with it. Umm this is what this layout started out like. I even found the ideal picture within seconds and thought yeah this is going to be easy. Well it just happened, I know it doesn't happen often, but it just hit me. What a disaster.... I followed the papers stitching guidelines and thought yeah I can do this, I can stitch right down my picture and it will look great.

What was I thinking.......yuk, and double yuk. But as normal every mistake creates another opportunity to create and luckily I think I came up with a winner.

I think it even looks a bit spesh. I even got to try out some alcohol inks on the mini tags. Not quite what Jennifer McGuire has been creating lately but they did add a little extra to my cluster.
